What line of work were you in before you became a settlement planner?

Prior to joining the amazing team at TSA, I was a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Putting clients first, doing the right thing, and offering a holistic perspective are values and best practices that I still continue to employ as a settlement planner. In short, my previous experience and financial background help me offer comprehensive and prudent advice to each and every claimant I assist.

What do you enjoy most about being a settlement planner?

I think what I enjoy most about being a settlement planner is helping people during a very difficult, stressful, and grievous time in their life. With so much bad counsel and information that seems to creep up in these situations, I take pride in being that person claimants can trust with their financial picture (pre- & post-settlement). Helping answer questions, being a resource, lending an ear, and even being a shoulder to cry on are things that give me energy and purpose as a settlement planner.

What are some of the challenges that your attorney clients face--and how do you help them?

I think there are several challenges that my attorney clients face. One challenge is being able to deliver high-quality service to each and every client they serve. By bringing me on to the case well before mediation and settlement, I’m able to see the complete picture and advise my attorneys on what issues we may face in the process. Are there government benefits involved? When do we need a Medicare Set-Aside or a Special Needs Trust? Does a QSF make sense if there are multiple claimants and different layers to a case? How do we resolve a client’s lien situation? Can we assist with estate and probate administration? These are all questions and situations where I add value and relieve stress for my attorney clients.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Outside of work, I spend most of my time with family. My beautiful wife Megan and I love being parents to our newborn son, Trey, and he takes up most of our free time. When I’m not hanging out with them, I enjoy being out on the golf course or lighting up the BBQ pit and watching college football with friends. I’m also passionate about serving and teaching at my local church when I have the opportunity.

Who is your personal hero?

My personal hero has to be Jackie Robinson. He once stated, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” I try to live that profound statement out each and every day. What impact or legacy am I leaving behind for others to see and participate in?

If you weren't a settlement planner, what would you be doing for a career?

I think if I weren’t a settlement planner, I’d either be a pastor or college professor. The Church and the academy will always be close to my heart and mind.
